As a financial advisor for 22 years, I have extensive knowledge of the financial markets and the financial solutions available to retail and business clients. I work extensively to understand my client’s current financial situation and their future financial goals within the framework of liquidity, risk and return objectives before making any recommendations. I serve as a sounding board not only for investment concerns but also help my clients with working through other financial related matters: getting a mortgage, buying/leasing an automobile, choosing the best banking solutions, etc. I believe in a “Buckets of Money” approach whereby a client may have multiple different objectives for different portions of their overall investment strategy and make sure they fully understand why their investments are specifically positioned accordingly. Market volatility and corrections are inevitable, but with proper planning, my clients should never be in a position where their behavior is driven by those circumstances. I take great pride in helping to educate clients on the nuances of financial planning and investment management and believe the “Holy Grail” of investing is achieving a risk adjusted return that exceeds your expectations, while providing a level of service you would expect from a financial professional in whom you have entrusted your financial future.

I am proud to represent SDCCU Investment Services and LPL Financial. Neither institution relies on “proprietary” products, believing that finding the most appropriate solution for the client is always the right choice. Having access to both brokerage and advisory solutions provides me the flexibility to draw from either area when appropriate.

I bring 30 years of practical experience to members seeking help meeting their financial goals. I seek financial investment solutions in either a brokerage account or an advisory account. Brokerage account choices include a well-vetted mix of non-proprietary mutual funds, unit investment trusts, individual bonds, annuities and structured products. Advisory accounts are available across several platforms offering all risk levels and can address very individualized needs and preferences. 
 
I am very comfortable helping members and families with exploring and selecting life insurance coverage or long term care coverage. These protection elements can solidify and preserve a family’s assets through income replacement, wealth transfer and protection from wealth depletion caused by high long-term care expenses.

Investments and insurance are financial tools. By combining an understanding of a member’s needs with experience and technology, we can compare risk, costs, performance and features allowing the selection of the appropriate tools.  Essentially, we create a partnership that is enhanced by regular reviews of existing plans in light of changing personal and financial needs.

I specialize in two areas that are a priority for the typical employee - 401(k) plans and stock option plans, using strategies that offer greater rates of return compared to a depository CD.
 
I also specialize in unit investment trusts, or UIT’s. These solutions tend to be more cost-effective than managed portfolios or mutual funds while offering the same, if not better, upside potential for growth.
 
My other areas of expertise include special needs planning for children or family members who will continue to need financial support throughout their adulthood, life insurance planning for personal estate and business arrangements and long term care insurance planning.
