SAN DIEGO, Calif., (March 4, 2022) –  San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, is providing educational resources for the community  in support of National Consumer Protection Week, March 6-12. On Wednesday, March 9, SDCCU will present three free webinars aimed at educating the community on how to keep themselves, their loved ones and their finances safe. Webinar topics include: Internet Safety for Your Kids, Current Scams and How to Protect Your Finances and Elder Financial Abuse Prevention.

“Fraudsters and cyber criminals continue to target unsuspecting victims, and we are committed to doing our part to help educate the community on how to protect themselves and their finances,” said Teresa Campbell, SDCCU president and CEO. “Staying informed and being aware of the threats that are present is vital to keeping your finances safe. SDCCU is pleased to provide these resources to help protect the community.”
National Consumer Protection Week encourages the community to learn more about their consumer rights and how to keep themselves secure. The FTC has sponsored National Consumer Protection Week since 1998, and provides free resources to protect consumers from the latest scam tactics and other fraud crimes like identity theft. If you think you’ve been a victim of a scam, report it to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at reportfraud.ftc.gov.

The National Consumer Protection Week webinars are part of Financial Wellness Wednesdays, an ongoing program hosted by SDCCU to help provide the community access to free financial wellness information. Upcoming topics, dates and times can be found at sdccu.com/fww.
