Webinar on identity theft prevention will discuss how traditional identity theft has evolved, new risks created by AI and how to protect yourself.

On Wednesday, December 10 at 12 p.m., SDCCU will be hosting the Understanding Identity Theft in Today’s AI World webinar, in partnership with the Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC). The webinar will be presented by Mona Terry, Chief Operating Officer, Head of Victim Services at the ITRC.This presentation provides a comprehensive overview of the evolving landscape of identity crimes, extending beyond simple data theft to examine the lifecycle of identity theft—from the initial compromise to the misuse of credentials—and provides actionable steps individuals can take for detection, protection and recovery. The presentation will include real-world scenarios and reports of identity theft to the ITRC.

The ITRC is a non-profit organization established to empower and guide consumers, victims, businesses and government agencies to minimize risk and mitigate the impact of identity theft and crime. The ITRC conducts training and presentations on best practices and risk reduction for both businesses and consumers.
Mona Terry is the Chief Operating Officer, Head of Victim Services at the ITRC. She utilizes her experience and knowledge to guide and enhance the organization’s victim services. With over 20 years of experience in the field, Mona has developed a deep understanding of the challenges facing victims of identity crimes. Through her work at the ITRC, she has been instrumental in developing supportive approaches to help identity crime victims, including recovery plans and education programs designed to help individuals and families affected by these crimes. Mona previously served at the Better Business Bureau in San Diego as the Director of Operations. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
