Identity Theft Resource Center discusses the hands-on approach to protecting consumers digital footprints online

SDCCU is hosting a special webinar titled Hands-On Privacy which will be presented by Samantha Gwinn, Outreach Coordinator for the Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC), on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. This webinar will discuss how to protect yourself from data compromises and hacking, how to manage and secure mobile device settings, step-by-step privacy instructions for social media and more. The ITRC is a non-profit organization established to empower and guide consumers, victims, businesses and government agencies to minimize risk and mitigate the impact of identity compromise and crime. The ITRC conducts training and presentations on best practices and risk reduction for both businesses and consumers.
Samantha Gwinn is the Outreach Coordinator for the ITRC. Prior to joining ITRC, Samantha led public safety product strategy for LexisNexis Risk Solutions, where she worked to execute market strategy and provide real-world law enforcement perspective to new and existing solutions. During her decade with LexisNexis, she also forged a new fraud analyst role, building a team of nine government fraud analysts to provide internal and external expertise on public records data and fraud detection and prevention. Gwinn joined LexisNexis with more than 12 years of experience as a Crime Analyst, most recently with the FBI Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (ViCAP) Unit, where she provided investigative support for homicide, sexual assault, missing persons, and unidentified remains cases. She also served on the development team for the ViCAP Web contributory law enforcement database. Prior to joining the FBI, Gwinn was a Crime Analyst with the San Diego Police Department, working closely with two area commands and the Sex Crimes Unit. She also spent 2½ years with the San Diego Unified School District Police Department, where she developed and presented curricula on how campus police officers can engage in community policing and problem solving. Gwinn served as Treasurer for the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA), and co-chaired the creation of the IACA's law enforcement analyst certification program. Gwinn is a board member for End Violence Against Women-International, with whom she has volunteered since 2013. She holds a BA in psychology and a master's degree in criminal justice and criminology.
