In 2024, SDCCU enhanced the program by partnering with CBS 8 to highlight the accomplishments of Classroom Heroes winners on CBS 8 and The CW, and also added a grand prize Kona Kai staycation package.

From September 2025 through May 2026, SDCCU will honor one local San Diego County teacher each month as a “SDCCU Classroom Hero,” provide them with a $500 Visa gift card, Classroom Hero award and feature their accomplishments on CBS 8 and The CW. One lucky Classroom Hero will also win the grand prize: a five day, four night, luxury staycation at Kona Kai Resort that includes a spa treatment for two, a day bed at the pool, over $600 in restaurant credits and more!
