SAN DIEGO, Calif., (August 3, 2021) -- San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, is proud to announce that SDCCU Call Center Senior Vice President, Sheena Peoples, was named among San Diego Business Journal’s Top 40 Business Leaders Under 40. The award recognizes young professionals — leaders, change makers and innovators — who are making waves, creating impact and leaving a positive mark on the San Diego community.
Peoples was selected in part for leading a number of initiatives aimed at improving the overall customer experience including: leading the implementation of a self-service authentication project, which allowed customers to self-authenticate by confirming their identity within an automated menu before talking to a call center agent; overseeing the implementation of Screen Pop, a functionality that improves efficiency in authentication by providing integration between the telephone system and a staff member’s desktop; leading the launch of a revamped Touch Tone Teller technology; and playing an integral role in the launch of SDCCU’s new online banking platform, to name a few.

Peoples’ path has boded well for her as she has experienced many achievements over the course of her career. She has risen in the ranks within the call center and leadership within the credit union: from 2005 being hired as a Member Service Supervisor, promoted to Assistant Manager in 2013, then again to Call Center Manager in 2014, followed by Vice President in 2015, and in 2020 elevating to Senior Vice President.
Peoples was honored in 2020 as one of SD Metro Magazine's Top 40 Under 40 and has also been recognized multiple times internally at SDCCU for her exceptional work including: SDCCU's President’s Service Award in 2011, which recognizes individuals who go above and beyond in their day to day activities. The call center received the first-ever Inspiration Award in 2018, and in 2019, the call center won the Department Excellence Award and Sheena won the Feel the Teal Award, which is SDCCU’s highest annual honor given to an individual who displays exceptional service and a commitment to excellence.
