San Diego Business Journal’s annual awards program recognizes women business leaders

 
SAN DIEGO, Calif., (December 7, 2021) -- San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is proud to announce that SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Campbell, was selected as a winner in the 28th Annual Business Women of the Year Awards by the San Diego Business Journal. The awards program honors dynamic women business leaders who have contributed significantly to San Diego’s workplaces and communities.
 
Campbell was recognized for her demonstrated successes at SDCCU since she joined the credit union in 2010. Most notably under her leadership, SDCCU’s customer base has more than doubled, reaching over 425,000 members, and assets have grown from just under $5 billion to $10.7 billion. She is a highly strategic and effective leader and has a genuine passion for helping to progress the credit union movement. Campbell’s focus on improving lives by providing breakthrough banking products, services, education and extensive community support has tremendously impacted Southern California.

Campbell has earned a number of notable awards for her accomplishments and leadership in the time she has been with SDCCU. So far in 2021, Campbell has been honored with a Stevie Award for Women in Business, selected for a Business Leadership Award from the North San Diego Business Chamber, as well as named as one of SD Metro Magazine’s Women of Influence for the second consecutive year. In 2020, she was named a CEO of the Year finalist by the San Diego Business Journal, and one of San Diego’s Top 50 Executives by the San Diego Business Journal. In 2019, she was named CEO of the Year by the San Diego Business Journal and recognized with the North San Diego Business Chamber’s 2019 Business Leadership Award—the chamber awarded her Business Leader of the Year in 2016. In 2018, she was selected as one of 25 San Diego Business Women of the Year by the San Diego Business Journal and honored with a Bronze Stevie Award for 2018 Female Executive of the Year. Campbell was also named Most Admired CEO by the San Diego Business Journal in 2017 and 2015, as well as recognized for a second time at the San Diego Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business Awards with her first win occurring in 2011.

Campbell serves on the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, formerly the Department of Business Oversight, CU Advisory Committee. She served a two-year term, 2018 to 2020, on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Credit Union Advisory Council. She served as the 2012 and 2013 Board Chair of the California Credit Union League and has since continued her service to the League by serving as a Board and Committee Member. Campbell also serves as a Board Member of the National Credit Union Foundation.

Campbell’s educational background includes a BS – Accounting from the University of Maryland at College Park, and a MAS – Financial Management from The Johns Hopkins University.
