A New Guinness World Record® is Set at the 2016 SDCCU Super Shred Event
Thanks to the efforts of Team SDCCU and our partners in the community, we broke our existing GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title at the 2016 SDCCU Super Shred Event, collecting, shredding and recycling an incredible 589,251 pounds of paper! More than 12,000 people turned out at Qualcomm® Stadium on July 30 to properly dispose of confidential information and set the new record for most paper collected in a 24-hour period.
Since we began hosting our free Shred Day events in 2007, over 2.4 million pounds of paper have been collected, shredded and recycled at no charge, saving more than 21,100 trees (every 120 pounds shredded represents one saved tree).
