A New Guinness World Record® is Set at the 2015 SDCCU Super Shred Event
Thanks to the efforts of Team SDCCU and our partners in the community, we set a new Guinness World Record for the most paper collected in a 24-hour period. The 2015 SDCCU Super Shred Event brought San Diegans together who collected, shredded and recycled a stunning 584,350 pounds of paper! More than 10,000 people turned out at Qualcomm® Stadium between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on July 25 to properly dispose of confidential information and set the new record for most paper collected in a 24-hour period.
Since we began hosting our free Shred Day events in 2007, over 1.8 million pounds of paper have been collected, shredded and recycled at no charge, saving more than 15,500 trees (every 120 pounds shredded represents one saved tree).
As an added benefit to the community, many of the attendees made donations to the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA, raising over $8,000.
