Nearly 40,000 pounds of paper collected, over 335 trees saved at latest SDCCU Shred Day Event

SDCCU is committed to helping the community properly dispose of sensitive data, an effort that landed them their third Guinness World Record® for the most paper collected in 24 hours in one location in July 2015. SDCCU’s latest free Shred Day Event, held at three locations on April 9, resulted in a total of 39,367 pounds of paper collected and shredded. SDCCU plans to break the record again this year at their next SDCCU Super Shred Event scheduled for July 30, 2016 at Qualcomm Stadium.

The Best Local Theatre Teacher Award ballot is open

SDCCU is asking the community to nominate and vote for the Best Local Theatre Teacher. The Best Local Theatre Teacher Award is part of the Ben Vereen Awards®, a two-part local competition for high school students who are talented in musical theater, including vocal, dance and acting performance. The winning teacher will receive a trip for two to New York to attend the 2016 Jimmy AwardsTM, also known as the National High School Musical Theatre Awards.
 


San Diego Police Foundation teaches parents and teachers how to identify and handle online issues impacting today’s youth

Community is invited to attend free event focused on how to avoid financial scammers

County Supervisor Dianne Jacob and Poway Mayor Steve Vaus will lead the next forum, happening May 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Poway Community Park Auditorium, located at 13094 Civic Center Drive in Poway. Check-in is at 8:30 a.m. and the event includes a complimentary breakfast. 


San Diego County Credit Union encourages the community to Join the Millions to Stop Diabetes

There are currently 14.6 million people with diabetes and pre-diabetes in California, which is why SDCCU is supporting the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Throughout the month of May, SDCCU is proud to Join the Millions® in the fight to Stop Diabetes®  by collecting donations to help fight against the disease. SDCCU encourages members of the community to make a donation at any of its 38 branch locations or donate online to ADA through Saturday, June 4.
