Michelle Pagni, executive vice president of human resources at SDCCU, San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, was named a 2017 Credit Union Rock Star by the Credit Union National Association. The awards program recognizes those who demonstrate outstanding innovation and creativity in their chosen fields—and by doing so have made the credit union movement a better, more interesting place.
Pagni received her designation as a Credit Union Rock Star largely for her impressive work as part of the leadership team at SDCCU, overseeing all functions of human resources, including organizational planning, training, employment, compensation, benefits, safety and health and employee services.
“Michelle is a Credit Union Rock Star. She is a strategic, decisive, innovative, inclusive, relatable and all around exceptional leader,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck. “Her passion for people and fun, and her innate desire to learn drives her team to come up with innovative ideas, programs and solutions to recruit and retain top talent and foster a healthy and engaged workforce.”
Under Pagni’s leadership, SDCCU employees are engaged and producing at their optimum potential, which is evident in the numbers. The credit union has grown to $8.2 billion in assets and reached over 365,000 members, positioning as a top credit union in the nation. SDCCU was also recently voted by readers of The San Diego Union-Tribune as BEST Credit Union for the 18th consecutive year, BEST Auto Loan Provider for the fourth year and for the 8th year in a row: BEST Financial Planner and BEST Mortgage Home Loan Provider.
