Hundreds of children at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego and CHOC Children’s Hospital will receive toys throughout the year thanks to SDCCU, San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution. SDCCU customers and employees donated 797 toys for its seventh annual Holiday Toy Drive benefiting Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC Children’s). This is the seventh year that SDCCU has held a toy drive during the holidays to benefit pediatric hospitals.
Throughout December 2016, every one of SDCCU’s 40 convenient branch locations in Southern California served as an authorized drop-off location for new, unwrapped toys that were donated to Rady Children’s Hospital and CHOC Children’s.
“SDCCU is proud to support Rady Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Orange County with the collection of toys that will help put smiles on the faces of children who find themselves in need of pediatric care,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck. “We are especially thankful for the generosity of our employees and customers who donated toys and helped deliver a message of joy to these children.”
Donated items may be used throughout the year as gifts to individual patients in various age groups. In addition, donated items may be utilized in playrooms and support groups as in-room activities for patients and in conjunction with therapies.
