San Diego County Credit Union’s radio advertising campaign garners award

10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM

San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, has received a 2013 Effective Advertising on Radio (EAR) award from the San Diego Radio Broadcasters Association (SDRBA), a local industry trade group that promotes the use of radio as an advertising medium. SDCCU was recognized for a radio advertising campaign that increased mobile deposits and new checking accounts.

The campaign, dubbed “The Therapist,” ran from March to November 2012 with 30-second ads heard on nearly two dozen local stations. Ad agency NYCA, of San Diego, spearheaded the campaign.

“The strategy with our marketing efforts is to reinforce our market-leading position with breakthrough banking service and products, and to differentiate ourselves in contrast to the mega-size banks,” said San Diego County Credit Union President & CEO Teresa Halleck. “This radio campaign was very successful at reminding consumers that superior products and services are available at SDCCU.”

“Radio offers the opportunity to deliver a message that brings measurable results to advertisers,” said Sharon Massey, SDRBA executive director. “We salute SDCCU for their success with this ambitious campaign.” Massey said EAR award entries are judged by a panel of radio professionals who evaluate commercials based on tangible results, as well as outstanding creative, writing and production.
