SAN DIEGO, Calif., (February 25, 2021) –  San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, is providing educational resources for the community  in support of National Consumer Protection Week, which is taking place February 28 through March 6. On Wednesday, March 3, SDCCU will present three free webinars aimed at educating the community on how to keep themselves, loved ones and their finances safe. Webinar topics include: Elder Financial Abuse Prevention, Safeguarding Kids’ Identity & Online Privacy and Scams and How to Protect Your Finances. The webinar format allows the community to join the presentation online from the safety of their own homes.

“Fraudsters are more prevalent than ever, and we are committed to doing our part to help educate the community on how to protect themselves and their finances,” said Teresa Campbell, SDCCU president and CEO. “Knowing what to look for and learning strategies to keep you and your family safe is vital to financial health. SDCCU is happy to provide these resources to help protect the community.”

National Consumer Protection Week encourages the community to learn more about their consumer rights and how to keep themselves secure. The FTC has sponsored National Consumer Protection Week since 1998, and provides free resources to protect consumers from fraud, scams and identity theft. If you think you’ve been a victim of a scam, report it to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at reportfraud.ftc.gov.

The National Consumer Protection Week webinars are part of Financial Wellness Wednesdays, an ongoing program hosted by SDCCU to help provide the community access to free financial wellness information. Upcoming topics, dates and times can be found at sdccu.com/fww.
