SDCCU will present “Cybersecurity,” a free educational seminar with security expert Jim Stickley as guest speaker at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, at the SDCCU Operations Center, located at 6545 Sequence Drive in Mira Mesa.
Stickley will provide insight into methods of cyber-attacks that criminals use, how to reduce your risk by showing examples of real cases and more. Stickley’s presentation is good for novice and experienced users. The presentation is one of an ongoing series of seminars for the community that SDCCU offers. Visit sdccu.com/seminar to register for the seminar.
Stickley has stolen credit cards, hacked Social Security numbers, robbed banks, created fake ATMs, broken into armed government facilities and stolen from teenagers. Fortunately for all victims involved, Jim is a cybersecurity expert with over 20 years in the industry who was hired to perform these attacks by corporations testing their security, and agencies interested in knowing just how easy it is to commit identity theft. His job is to find security flaws before the real criminals find them and educate people and organizations about what they can do to protect themselves.
Today, Stickley is the CEO of Stickley on Security and can be seen throughout the United States speaking on topics that range from basic identity theft to national cyber terrorism. In addition, Stickley can be seen on numerous TV news programs, is a frequent guest on NBC's Today Show and is the security expert featured in LifeLock® infomercials.
The seminar is part of Financial Wellness Wednesdays, an ongoing program hosted by SDCCU to help provide the community access to free financial wellness information. For a complete list of upcoming Financial Wellness Wednesdays seminars, visit sdccu.com/fww.
As San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution and a Live Well San Diego partner, SDCCU is dedicated to improving overall economic well-being by engaging in several financial wellness efforts. Research shows that poor financial health can often lead to diminished physical health. Also, evidence suggests that the average high-school graduate lacks basic skills to manage personal finances, many young people experience difficulty balancing a checkbook and half of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Together, we can help change these statistics and improve the financial health of our communities.
