Teresa Halleck, President and CEO, San Diego County Credit Union Named 2015 Woman of the Year Finalist by San Diego Magazine
SDCCU is proud to announce that SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck was named a finalist for the San Diego Magazine 2015 Woman of the Year Award. The Woman of the Year Awards is an evening to honor all of the dynamic women in San Diego committed to creating positive change.
“Teresa embodies all of the characteristics of a truly admirable CEO and Woman of the Year. She combines excellent leadership, management, operational, communication and people skills with a clear vision and strategy to help propel SDCCU and the community forward. She is not only committed to creating positive change within our own organization but also in the areas where we live and work,” said Nathan Schmidt, executive vice president of marketing and business development at SDCCU.
In the five years that Halleck has served as president and CEO for SDCCU, the organization has realized tremendous growth and success—reaching $7 billion in assets and over 298,000 customers, a more than 50 percent increase in membership since Halleck joined the organization. In addition, SDCCU has contributed greatly to the San Diego economy with the support of over 75 non-profits, participation in more than 240 community events annually and engagement in numerous activities to make a difference in the communities where SDCCU operates. Under Halleck’s leadership, SDCCU has been recognized with numerous accolades and awards, including being voted BEST Credit Union for the 16th consecutive year by readers of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
With 26 years of financial industry experience—18 of which as a CEO—Halleck is well respected locally, as well as throughout the nationwide credit union community, for being an astute, proficient, ethical and socially responsible leader with an outstanding ability to guide large credit unions. She is committed to the credit union movement and its foundation of people helping people, which has directly contributed to SDCCU’s growth rate over the past few years that has been more than 2.5 times above the national average.
Her current board and committee involvement in the industry includes service as a Board Member for the California Credit Union League (CCUL) and as a committee member on the Department of Business Oversight’s Credit Union Advisory Committee. Halleck also serves as a Board Member of the National Credit Union Foundation. Halleck’s educational background includes a BS in Accounting from the University of Maryland at College Park, and a MAS of Financial Management from The Johns Hopkins University.
