2014 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl tickets on sale now
10th anniversary of SDCCU’s title sponsorship of America’s only college football bowl game with a credit union as title sponsor

Tickets are on sale now for the 10th annual San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. SDCCU has served as title sponsor of the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl since the bowl game’s inception in 2005. The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl is the only college football bowl game among America’s 35 college football bowl games to have a credit union as a title sponsor.
Kickoff for the 2014 game is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Qualcomm® Stadium in San Diego. The bowl game will match a top team from the Mountain West Conference against a bowl-eligible U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen team with at least six victories. The game will be broadcasted live before a nationwide audience on ESPN-TV and ESPN-Radio.

Tickets for the 2014 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl range from $45 to $80 and can be purchased through the bowl’s ticket office at Qualcomm Stadium, Gate A, or by calling (619) 285-5039. Tickets also can be purchased online on the Poinettia Bowl page at sandiegobowlgames.com. For those looking to bring the entire family to the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, a four-ticket package is available featuring four field level tickets to the game, four hot dogs, four sodas and a game program for only $150.
Make-A-Wish® Foundation of San Diego also is celebrating its 10th anniversary as the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl’s charity beneficiary. One dollar from every admission ticket sold will help the charity grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Over the ten years, more than $350,000 has been raised for Make-A-Wish from ticket sales from the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
According to the San Diego Bowl Game Association, the non-profit entity that produces the game, the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl generates millions of dollars into the San Diego economy during a week when the region’s tourism industry is at one of its slowest times of the year. The mission of the Association is to generate tourism, exposure, economic benefit and civic pride for San Diego and its citizens by producing the nation’s most exciting bowl games and festival of activities. Officials report that the previous nine San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl games have added more than $80 million of revenue into the local economy.
The 2013 game featured the Utah State Aggies defeating the Northern Illinois University Huskies, 21-14, in front of over 23,000 fans. Utah State, winner of the Mountain Division of the Mountain West, finished its season 9-5 and played in a third straight bowl game, a school record. Northern Illinois University (12-2) posted a school-record 12 consecutive victories before ending the season with two straight losses.
